About Us

The Botham Jean Foundation

Our Story

Inspired by an Amazing Life

Our Story began with a beacon of light and compassion. We know him as Botham Shem Jean.

Born in Saint Lucia, Botham’s passion for helping people started at a young age. As a student at Harding College and a Member of the Church of Christ, Botham was involved in several community activities. After graduating college and starting his career in finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he continued his mission of uplifting those around him, funding a mission trip to Saint Lucia.

Botham poured his energy into outreach at his home of Saint Lucia as well as his local community in Dallas, Texas.

Throughout his life,
he passionately
supported:

Botham’s love for his community and his unwavering dedication to missionary work inspired all who knew him.

On September 6th, 2018, Botham’s life was tragically cut short when he was shot and killed in his own home by an off-duty police officer who claimed she mistakenly entered his apartment believing it to be hers. However, despite his short life, Bothams bright light shines on in the lives of all those who knew him, as well as in the communities he served.

To honor Botham’s incredible spirit and continue his mission, we established the Botham Jean Foundation. Now, we are dedicated to carrying forward Botham’s legacy, providing support to those who need it most.
